The day before I broke my leg, two weeks after I got here in August '06, I spotted a Gerrit Reitveld red/blue chair in a carpentry shop near Bacaxa.
I determined to get me some of that, and finally a year and a half later, here they are.
Four handmade hardwood chairs and a matching table I derived from some of his other chair designs. (I now have a smoked glass circular top fitted...looks amazing.)
In the background a couple of the guys from Bath are having a sesh.

Lao and Anisio giving it some too.
Lao went down with mosquito borne Dengue fever a few weeks back. ( He recovered, for the time being at least...)
It's now reached epidemic proportions in Rio. They've deployed the military to assist in dealing with it.
Anyway, much more important, my mezzanine window nearly.
